Celebrating Award-Winning Success in Ashland
Big congratulations to the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) on receiving the Quality of Life/Community Development Small Project Award for “Right-sizing, Roundabouts, and Revitalization: Ashland’s Winchester Avenue Streetscape Improvements.”
Selected from 30 projects across 10 states in the SASHTO region, this honor is part of the America’s Transportation Awards competition, which recognizes projects that strengthen communities and improve quality of life.
We’re also proud to share that this transformative project has earned two additional major awards:
2025 Engineering Excellence Grand Conceptor Award – American Council of Engineering Companies of Kentucky
2025 Transportation Improvement Award ($10 Million and Under) – ASHE Bluegrass
Palmer Engineering was honored to serve as the sole designer and primary visionary behind this effort. From the initial planning study in 2020 through construction in 2023, our team partnered closely with KYTC and the City of Ashland to reimagine Winchester Avenue into a safer, more vibrant, and walkable corridor for residents and visitors.
Led by KYTC, the project was delivered ahead of schedule and under budget—all while bringing lasting improvements that continue to energize downtown Ashland.
