Forest and Fitzgerald Storm and Sanitary Improvements Phase I

KENTON COUNTY, KY

WATER RESOURCES

Palmer Engineering is providing comprehensive water resources and civil engineering services for the Forest and Fitzgerald Storm and Sanitary Phase 1 Project in Erlanger, Kenton County, Kentucky, for Sanitation District No. 1 of Northern Kentucky (SD1). This infrastructure improvement project is designed to reduce flooding at the Forest and Fitzgerald intersection and manage stormwater velocities through the existing open channel at 4118 Taylor Court.

The project replaces the existing 30-inch and 36-inch storm sewer systems with a single 60-inch pipe, efficiently conveying stormwater flows to the open channel. Modifications to the surrounding contours will create additional water storage capacity, with a proposed control structure forming two connected storage areas. Additionally, the existing 48-inch culvert will be replaced to improve drainage without requiring a control structure.

To minimize construction impacts, SD1 is coordinating the sanitary sewer replacement simultaneously. The existing 8-inch and 12-inch sanitary lines will be combined and upsized to a 21-inch pipe, with connections coordinated with the Phase II consultant. Palmer Engineering’s expertise ensures the project enhances stormwater management, mitigates flood risks, and supports the long-term infrastructure needs of the community.
