Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in planning and design of transportation infrastructure projects, including roads, intersections, bike/pedestrian facilities, and safety improvements

• Collect and analyze data related to traffic, roadway conditions, and design elements

• Create plans, drawings, and details using software such as OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation

• Participate in internal design reviews and client meetings to gain exposure to project development process

• Ensure designs follow applicable standards (AASHTO, MUTCD, DOT standards) and regulatory requirements

• Work closely with mentors and senior engineers to build technical skills and project knowledge

• Must have bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (or expected within 6 months) from ABET-accredited program

• Coordinate and oversee work tasks from other team members

• Perform field investigations and collect data for roadway assessments, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) reviews, and other transportation-related analyses

• Utilize engineering software (OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, ) to create detailed plans, perform quantity estimates, generate roadway alignments and cross sections, analyze survey data, and specifications

• Assist with marketing and business development efforts

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including urban planners, environmental scientists, and construction managers, to ensure project success

• Prepare and lead project reports, technical documents, and presentations for clients and stakeholders

• Participate in community engagement efforts to gather input and address public concerns related to transportation projects

• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and industry standards

• Stay current with advancements in transportation engineering and sustainability practices

What We’re Looking For:

• Must have minimum of a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field

• Professional Engineer (PE) license or able to sit for the exam

• 5-15 years of experience in transportation engineering on ODOT projects

• Proficiency with industry-standard design software such as OpenRoads Designer, MicroStation, HEC-RAS, and drainage design software (such as CDSS, ORD Drainage, StormCad, or similar)

• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

• Experience and familiarity with the procurement process for ODOT projects
