KENTUCKY ROADWAY PROJECTS
Palmer Engineering delivers accurate and efficient surveying services to support infrastructure planning, design, and construction across Kentucky and surrounding regions.
Through our partnership with CDI surveyors, Palmer has successfully provided high-quality mapping and data collection under multiple Statewide Surveying Contracts awarded in 2017, 2021, 2023, and 2025.
Our team combines advanced technology — including drone mapping, GPS, and conventional surveying — with a commitment to detail that ensures dependable results for every project.
Check out a few of our most recent roadway surveying projects below.
Rudy Bear Road (Laurel County, Kentucky)
This recently completed project covered 1.75 miles of Rudy Bear Road and KY 3007, assisting the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) with in-house design efforts.
Survey highlights:
Integrated KYTC drone mapping with field ground shots to develop a comprehensive project manuscript in OpenRoads Designer (ORD)
Established horizontal and vertical control for accuracy and consistency
Conducted property research and line location
Completed utility, drainage, and topographic surveys
This project reflects Palmer’s ability to merge cutting-edge technology with traditional field expertise for precise and timely deliverables.
KY 550 (Perry County, Kentucky)
Currently underway, this project involves the survey of existing drainage systems, utilities, and right-of-way along KY 550 in Hazard, Kentucky. The effort is fast-tracked to address drainage concerns caused by crushed or clogged pipes leading to stormwater overflow across the roadway.
Scope of work includes:
Detailed drainage and utility surveys
Right-of-way and property boundary verification
Evaluation of storm sewer reconfigurations to mitigate flooding
Identification of utility relocation and right-of-way needs
By providing accurate, up-to-date survey data, Palmer enables KYTC to respond quickly and effectively to infrastructure challenges.
KY 3297 (Carter County, Kentucky)
This project provided 0.4 miles of field-developed mapping to support a KYTC District 9 in-house design project.
Survey services included:
Establishing horizontal and vertical control
Conducting property research and line location
Performing utility, drainage, and topographic surveys
Delivering a complete project control book for KYTC use
Palmer’s meticulous approach ensured clear, consistent data to support efficient roadway design and planning.
