Palmer Engineering Structures Summit Held in Ohio

The Palmer Engineering Structures Summit traveled to Ohio this year, bringing together members of our Structures team for a hands-on, educational experience focused on professional development and technology transfer.

Behind the Scenes of Prestressed Concrete Fabrication

A highlight of the summit was a tour of Prestress Services Industries’ plant in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, where our team had the opportunity to see every step of the fabrication process for prestressed concrete bridge beams. From raw materials to finished components, the visit provided valuable insight into the precision, planning, and craftsmanship required to deliver durable bridge elements.

Visiting an Award-Winning Bridge

The summit also included a visit to the Spellacy Bridge, an award-winning wooden covered bridge. Palmer Engineering designed the substructure and foundations for this unique project, making it a meaningful stop for our team to see the finished structure in its setting and reflect on the engineering behind it.

Knowledge Sharing and Team Collaboration

To conclude the summit, team members shared presentations on a variety of projects, structural engineering topics, and wilderness first aid, reinforcing Palmer Engineering’s commitment to continuous learning, safety, and collaboration across offices.

Bringing Our Teams Together

A special thank-you goes to Matt Johnson from our Medina, Ohio office for hosting the event—and for welcoming a new friend named Brutus, who quickly became part of the summit experience.

Events like the Structures Summit are an important part of how Palmer Engineering invests in its people, strengthens technical expertise, and fosters collaboration across our teams.
