US 460 Project Update Shared with ASHE Bluegrass Members

At the December 11, 2025 ASHE Bluegrass Section lunch meeting, David Lindeman, PE, PLS of Palmer Engineering joined John Michael Johnson, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) District 12 Project Manager, to present an overview of the US 460 Reconstruction Project in Pike County. The presentation traced the project’s remarkable journey from the initial preliminary design in 1995 through its completion and opening to traffic in October 2025.

Now complete, the US 460 Reconstruction Project stands as one of the most ambitious and technically complex rural highway projects in Kentucky’s history. Serving as lead designer for KYTC, Palmer Engineering led comprehensive efforts including planning, environmental documentation, roadway and bridge design, surveying, and expedited right-of-way and mineral rights services. These coordinated efforts were essential in significantly improving safety, mobility, and connectivity in the region.

Sharing the project’s story with fellow ASHE Bluegrass members provided a meaningful opportunity to celebrate this milestone and highlight the collaboration, technical expertise, and long-term vision required to bring a project of this scale to completion.
