As part of KYTC's ongoing commitment to maintaining safe and reliable transportation infrastructure, Palmer Engineering's bridge inspection team will evaluate the condition of the structure to ensure it continues to serve motorists safely for years to come. The inspection is required annually and includes a detailed assessment of the bridge's structural components using specialized equipment designed to access areas not visible during routine maintenance activities.
To accommodate the inspection, daytime lane restrictions will be in place Monday, June 15, through Friday, June 19. Traffic will be reduced to a single lane with alternating traffic controlled by flaggers while crews utilize an under-bridge inspection truck and other specialized equipment to examine the structure.
The Glover Cary Bridge, which opened to traffic in 1940, carries approximately 7,200 vehicles daily across the Ohio River, connecting Daviess County, Kentucky, and southern Indiana via KY 2262.
Motorists are encouraged to plan for possible delays, allow additional travel time, and exercise caution when traveling through the work zone. All inspection activities are weather dependent and subject to change based on unforeseen conditions.
