Engineering Internship Experience: Maci Moore at Palmer Engineering

Recently, Maci Moore, a civil engineering student at Marshall University and an intern in Palmer’s West Virginia office, returned to her alma mater, East Carter High School, to speak with students about “Is Engineering For You?” During her visit, she shared her experiences in engineering school and her internship at Palmer, where she is learning about roadway and bridge design.

During her time at Palmer, Maci has gained experience working on a variety of projects. One of her favorite tasks has been creating Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans for multiple projects, as well as attending a public meeting for the 12th Street project—an experience she’s excited to be part of.

When asked what she’s enjoyed about her internship, Maci emphasized the supportive and hands-on environment at Palmer. “It’s a great place to ask questions and try different things you might be interested in,” she shared. She also noted Palmer’s strong support for students, describing it as a “school first” company that understands academic commitments.

Experiences like Maci’s highlight what makes the Palmer internship program unique. Our interns are given meaningful opportunities to contribute to real projects, engage with clients and communities, and even inspire the next generation of engineers.

We’re proud of Maci for sharing her story and encouraging students to explore a future in engineering.
