Toyota Motor Manufacturing Projects

SCOTT COUNTY, KY

SITE DEVELOPMENT

Palmer Engineering, as a subconsultant to SSOE, has completed the following Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Kentucky (TMMK) projects:

Weld Expansion Phase 2 — Provided civil engineering services for the 117,348 SF Weld Phase 2 building, including survey, utility demolition and relocation, truck well design, stormwater management analysis, local permitting, corridor grading/drainage, erosion control, and coordination with SSOE staff. The project required detailed site grading to ensure proper stormwater drainage in narrow spaces between proposed and existing buildings.

Bumper Paint Facility — Provided civil engineering services for the 108,000 SF Bumper Paint expansion. Responsibilities included survey, site utilities, roadways, stormwater management analysis, local permitting, truck dock design, grading/drainage, erosion control, and coordination with SSOE staff. Truck maneuvers were carefully modeled to prevent impacts to the existing dock.

East Parking Expansion — Designed and expanded the Toyota main parking area to accommodate future growth and lost spaces. The project included revisions to the outer Ring Road, addition of drop gates, traffic flow coordination, traffic studies and route analysis, survey, construction-phase planning, 619 additional parking spaces, utilities, grading, paving, geometrics, erosion control, landscaping, and permitting.

Container Yard — Developed a new Gate 21 building with relocated canopies and a 42-acre container yard. Scope included survey, storm sewer design, erosion control, coordination with the adjacent Ring Road ditch, utilities, stormwater recharge/bio-retention pond, permitting, and SSOE coordination. The trailer storage area required modification of the FTZ fence.

Lexus Expansion — Expanded the Lexus Assembly building by four bays to accommodate additional production. Civil engineering tasks included rerouting storm sewer and fire protection lines, grading modifications for drainage, preparation of construction drawings, coordination with structural, architectural, electrical, mechanical, and fire protection disciplines, submission of the Final Development Plan, and construction coordination and shop drawing review.

Paint Reborn — Led civil engineering services for the construction of a new 700,000 SF Paint building while maintaining plant operations. Responsibilities included road relocation, utility layout, paving, construction coordination, QA/QC, permit applications, submittals, and approvals.
