I-264 at US 42

JEFFERSON COUNTY, KY

TRANSPORTATION

Construction is rapidly advancing on improvements to the US 42 interchange with I-264 (Watterson Expressway) in east Louisville. Originally initiated with a Planning Study in 2011, the project evolved into a major infrastructure investment, including the construction of a Single Point Urban Interchange (SPUI) in coordination with a new VA Hospital in the southeast quadrant. Additional improvements include widening I-264 from Westport Road to I-71 and the incorporation of sound walls for most of the project.

Palmer Engineering led a comprehensive design effort to enhance safety, mobility, and long-term corridor performance with our partners at AECOM. Cleary Construction is the lead contractor for the $130 million improvement.
