Exploring Engineering: A Carl D. Perkins Bridge Coloring Sheet

With all the cold and snowy weather lately, we’re dreaming of warmer days like this one from last summer when our team inspected the Carl D. Perkins Bridge.

As we gear up for National Engineers Week later this month, we’re working on some fun and educational materials to share. Here’s a sneak peek — a coloring sheet inspired by this project, for kids (and grown-ups who still love to color too)!

Last April, Palmer’s Structures Team completed a routine inspection of the Carl D. Perkins Memorial Bridge, a cantilever through truss structure spanning the Ohio River between Portsmouth, Ohio and South Shore, Kentucky.

Bridge inspections are critical for ensuring long-term safety, identifying wear or needed maintenance, and preserving the vital infrastructure that connects our communities. Our engineers regularly inspect bridges like this one to help keep them safe, functional, and ready for years to come.
